Letters From the Community

Dear Absolute! Builiding Maintenance
Thank you for generously supporting the Literacy Council Services with your contribution to our 25th Annual World's Greatest Dessert Party. Your commitment to our program enables us to fulfill our mission, "To provide customized tutoring in reading and related skills to people of all ages so they can be self sufficient in the 21st century." Without your support, our mission would merely be words on paper.
The Literacy Council currently is working with nearly 100 students per week, and served more than 600 learners in 2010. Current programs along with new programs in the planning stages will assure more success for the Literacy Council and our learners in 2011. Thanks to your gererosity and the help of others, our growth will grow.
Thank you for sharing in this important effort.
Gratefully,

Dear John,
On behalf of current and future cancer patients and their families, I want to thank you for your response to our year-end letter. Your generous gift will be placed with other donations to build the Cancer Care Fund for the new facility on the west campus.
Significant health programs, medical equipment, and patient care services have been funded this past year through contributions to Bay Medical Foundation.
- Over $300,000 was provided to McLaren Homecare and Hospice for unreimbursed patient care at Brian's House on the west campus.
- A grant of $275,000 was provided to Bay Regional Medical Center for direct costs of the Helen M. Nickless Volunteer Clinic.
- Five (5) $5,000 educational grants were provided to encourage nursing and allied health professionals upgrade their skills.
- A partnership with BRMC was entered into to encourage primary care physician recruitment through an educational grant to a local medical student.
- Over $170,000 was provided to various departments at BRMC and BSCH for patient care equipment, diagnostic items, wheelchairs, etc.
These items would not be available if it were not for the many community contributors and sponsorships of our various events held throughout the year.
Thank you for your 2011 gift, as well as for all of your previous support directed at our local community healthcare system.
I hope this acknowledgement letter finds you well and looking forward to a fresh, New Year.

Dear Johhn
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your support of the 2011 Bishop's Charity Golf Classic. I am especially grateful for your kind gift which, together with all the proceeds from this important event, will directly support seminarians, the cost of their current year's education, and other vocation-related initiatives.
Each year, our goal is to raise enough funds to assist with seminary tuition and to provide Ave Maria Radio with a $10,000 contribution for voacations programming. In addition to meeting these goals, nearly $50,000 was raised for the Bishops' Seminarian Education Endowment Fund, which was established to ensure the availability of resources for educating seminarians in the future.
We are grateful for the many generous benefactors who recognize the importance of honoring our current priests and investing in our future priests. Through the financial and spiritual support of people like you, our vocations program has become stronger. With the assistance of Fr. Andy Booms, Director of Priestly Vocations, and Fr. Bill Rutkowski, Director of Seminarians, I am confident that we are prepared to assist the young men of our diocese in their process of discerning a priestly vocation. Please continue to pray that these young men, with the encouragement of their parents and families, will respond generously to God's call.
May you and your loved ones experience great joy and peace in this Christmas season and, through the intercession of St. John Vianney, patron of diocesan priests, may our Lord bless our efforts to promote and support priestly vocations.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Joseph R. Cistone, D.D.
Bishop of Saginaw

Dear John,
In behalf of the MCVI Foundation and MMR, thank you for hosting a CPR training session at Absolute! Building Maintenance yesterday. With your help, 37 people now know the lifesaving skill of basic CPR and AED use.
The odds of surviving sudden cardiac arrest are chilling. Yet, people do survive. When you talk to those who have lived, there are some constant themes. First of all, a bystander began CPR; emergency help was called quickly and in most cases, the heart was defibrillated within minutes of the collapse. Sudden cardiac arrest is unpredictable, but our response to it doesn't need to be.
One heartbeat, one breath ... this can be the differeence between life and death. Thank you for helping spread this important message to the community.
Be well,
Diane M. Fong
Executive Director

Dear John:
Record breaking temperatures did not stop Saginaw from celebrating summer in a big way ... more than 80,000 people attended 145 plus events, at 16 venues all in the heart of Saginaw!
The Saginaw Arts & Enrichment Commission and the seventeen partner organizations would like to thank you and Absolute! Building Maintenance for your support of the fourth annual Saginaw Celebrates Summer, the three month collaboration celebrating arts, nature and the humanities with events for the whole family to enjoy. Saginaw Celebrates Summer boasted a fantastic list of events which included concerts, stage shows, jazz performances, art fairs, workshops, films, exhibitions, nature hikes and much, much more! Many of the events were FREE or had a reduced ticket price for members making the events accessible to adults and children regrardless of their economic means.
Attendance at the Saginaw Celebrate Summer events more than met our expectations for yet another year. A record breaking crowd enjoyed the great music and family activities on a warm summer evening at Jazz on Jefferson while the new and improved Pridemobile provided the backdrop for drawing thousands of people to Morley Plaza in downtown Saginaw for Friday night musical entertainment. Additional adversising by our media partners, web advertising, updates on Facebook and Twitter, a new 30 minute video aired on Channel 19 and throughout the community encoraged area residents and visitors to expolore the many entertainment options in the Saginaw community where they live, work and play.
None of the successes would have been possible without the fantastic support of Absolute! Building Maintenance as our title sponsor. Thank you for your commitment in promoting the many great things to see and do in the heart of Saginaw and to contributing to the quality of life for all living and working in the Great Lakes Bay Region. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the fifth annual Saginaw Celebrates Summer, Family Fun in the City!
Sincerely,
Marsha Braun , Director of Marketing

ABM helped make this possible and for this Grow Saginaw is extremely grateful. Cartwright Care Center, and the Regional Wound Healing and Hyperbaric Medicine Center. Each of these centers provides life-changing services to our patients.
We are deeply grateful for your participation in our event. The weather was perfect, the camaraderie was delightful, and the support was deeply appreciated. We are hopeful you will be able to again join us for our 2012 Red Carpet Premiere and Golf Classic on August 16 and 17.

Dear John:
It is vitally important to let you know what has been accomplished through your generous support of the second annual Covenant Kids Telethon and the Covenant Kids Fund. During the April 16th telethon and affiliated activities, just over $120,000 was raised. Additional events and gifts throughout the summer generated over $12,000. I can only say a simple and heart-felt THANK YOU.
In June a panel of nine people was selected to review funding proposals that were submitted by all pediatric services departments within Covenant HealthCare. There is listing of all of the 2011 approved proposals enclosed. To date all of the purchases have been made and are touching Covenant Kids, and their parents, lives every day. The total cost of the purchases paid for by the Covenant Kids Fund was just over $130,000.
There are two very important things I wish to convey here. First, when gifts are given the money is used as intended very quickly. Secondly, every dollar contributed goes directly to enhance the Covenant HealthCare pediatrics services for its patients. Nothing is spent for administration or promotions.
I sincerely thank you for your support and hope you will keep Covenant Kids close to your hear and your budget for the third annual Covenant Kids Telethon on WNEM TV 5 Saturday April 14, 2012.
Warmest Regards,
Kenneth R. Cichewicz
Covenant HealthCare Foundation

Dear Mr. Markey,
Thanks for your contribution to the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. Each and every gift to YMCA Strong Kids has a story. Here is what a Saginaw single mother told us, "Because of the Strong Kids Campaign my two daughters were able to attend Camp Timbers this year. I had lost my job and was unable to find the extra mone to pay their way with just my unemployment income. I just wanted to let you know how truly appreciative I am for your temendous act of kindness and hope that someday soon I am in a situation to give it back."
Each year, individuals, businesses and organizations, generously provide funding for programs that enrich the lives of Saginaw children. Children like these two girls being raised by a single mom in our community thank you for your support.
In 2010, donations of over $227,000 provided membership to over 600 children from low-income families and over 200 kids went to camp on camp scholarships. These youth were provided the tools to grow and develop into responsible youg adults.
Thank you for your investment in the youth of Saginaw through the YMCA. Your faith in the YMCA and the work we do helps to create a stronger Saginaw!
Respectfully,
John Lucher

Dear Mr. Markey,
Thank you so much for your Annual Partnership gift. This gift demonstrates your concern for the hungry, hurting and homeless men, women and children here in Mid-Michigan.
This year the Saginaw and Bay City missions will provide food and shelter to approximately 1,700 homeless people. Each meal we provide for someone in need creates an opportunity to make a connection with a person who is facing the worst crisis of their life, and gives us an opportunity to share the home of the Gospel while assisting them with their physical needs.
May God bless you for caring. Your gift has helped to give despairing people a reason to hope. We can't thank you enough for your compassionate contribution to reach out to our neighbors here in Mid-Michigan.
Sincerely,
Dan Streeter
Executive Director

Dear Friends:
Thank you for your donation toward our recent art auction "Arti Gras." Your gift helped to make our fundraising efforts successful. We raised just over $9,200 through this event and everyone involved seemed to enjoy the festivities. The total amount of money raised is enough to support 460 future guests who need housing while a family member is hospitalized, but who are unable to afford the costs of lodging. The families we house in our "home away from home" atmosphere here at the Hospital Hospitality Houses are the reason behind everything we do.
Thank you once again,

Your prayers and donations make possible everything we do to feed the hungry, shelter the homeless, and help transform lives. The needs of these people are very great, and your contribution to our work is crucial. That's why I struggle to find the right words to say...thank you.
I may be at a loss for words, buy my heart is full of gratitude for your recent gift. And since God tells us to "...be openhanded" toward the poor, I believe He regards your generosity with approval and pleasure (Deuteronomy 15:8). With deep gratitude,

Dear John,
As 2010 comes to a close, we'd like to take this opportunity to thank you for supporting the economic development efforts of Saginaw Future. Saginaw County and the Great Lakes Bay Regional economies continue to improve and we have become the leader in job growth for Michigan.
Over the years, our area has had high unemployment rates, and we ranked higher in the state in both those without jobs as well as the level of wages earned. However, since 2007, Saginaw County and the Great Lakes Bay Region have had a lower annual unemployment rate than the State.
We are leading the State in transitioning to a new economy that includes renewable energy, innovative technology, knowledge based jobs and skilled labor. Dedication, determination and forward thinking have positioned us for a brighter future and Saginaw Future promises to Sustain the Momentum.
We've worked very closely with many partners including business, labor, education and government, and have spurred nearly $5.9 billion in investment and the creation and retention of over 19,000 jobs for our region to date.
We could not have done it without your help. Thank you for your 2010 contribution to Saginaw Future, and to Sustain the Momentum for job creation and new investment. Now, more than ever, it is important that we continue our efforts to further diversify the economic base and strive for regional successes.
Sincerely,
| Herb Spence III Momentum Campaign Chair | JoAnn Crary President, Saginaw Future Inc. |

Dear Johhn
I wish to express my sincere gratitude for your support of the 2010 Bishop's Charity Golf Classic. I am especially grateful for your kind gift which, together with all the proceeds from this important event, will directly support seminarians, the cost of their current year's education, and other vocation-related initiatives.
Our event goal this year was to raise $65,000 to pay the seminary tuition for two of the eleven men studying for the priesthood, as well as to provide Ave Maria Radio with a $10,000 gift to assist with vocations programming. Initial estimates indicate that we have exceeded our goal, thanks to your generosity! In addition, $57,000 was raised for the Bishop's Seminarian Education Endowment Fund. This fund was established to ensure the availability of resources for educating seminarians in the future.
We are grateful for the many generous benefactors who recognize the importance of honoring our priests and investing in our future priests. Through the financial and spiritual support of people like you, our vocations program is strong and vibrant. With the assistance of Fr. Andy Booms, Director of Priestly Vocations, and Fr. Bill Rutkowski, Director of Seminarians, I am confident that we are poised to respond to the young people of the Diocese of Saginaw who are ready to conlmit themselves to a life of service as priests. Please continue to pray that our young people, with the encouragement of their parents and families, will respond generously to God's call.
Through the intercession of St. John Vianney, patron of diocesan priests, may our Lord bless our efforts to promote and support vocations.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Joseph R. Cistone, D.D.
Bishop of Saginaw

Dear Mr. Markey:
Hundreds of children had life changing experiences at the YMCA and YCamp Timbers this past year as a result of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign. Without the campaign, our volunteers and donors like you these children would not have had the opportunity to have wonderful, enriching experiences provided by the YMCA.
Each year, individuals, businesses and organizations, generously provide funding for programs that enrich the lives of Saginaw children. Thank you for your support. In 2009, donations of over $220,000 provided membership to over 600 children from low-income families and over 170 kids went to camp on camp scholarships. These youth were provided the tools to grow and develop into responsible young adults. Recognize that YMCA and YCamp Programs provide an opportunity for kids to extend their character values with an empphasis on caring, honesty, respect, and responsibility.
Thank you for your support of the kids we serve. Your investment in the YMCA youth of our community translates to a healthier stronger Saginaw!

Dear John:
Thank you for your donation toward our recent "Arti Gras" event. Your gift helped in part to make our fundraising efforts successful. Our fundraising goal for this event was to raise $15,000 and we exceeded our goal by raising just over $15,500. For a first year event, we couldn't be happier! Plus, the amount of money raised is enough to house over 125 families staying for four days (our average length of stay) free of charge. The families we house in our "home away from home" atmosphere here at the Hospital Hospitality Houses are the reason behind everything we do.
Thank you once again.
Sincerely,

Dear John:
Because of the YMCA Strong Kids Campaign and YCamp Timbers, Mary has grown stronger in spirit and has been given a chance to experience a stronger sense of who she is.
At YCamp, Mary became involved in the Raggers Program, which is a daily tool that campers and YMCA leaders can use to grow personally by experiencing mind and spirit challenges. The program pushed her to explore her identity and faith which resulted in a renewed sense of self-worth. Mary is reminded daily of all the friends she made at YCamp Timbers and all of the kids' lives that were meaningfully impacted because of their camp experiences.
YCamp Timbers is about friendship and love. On behalf of Mary and the YMCA of Saginaw, thank you for being a part of this significant outcome.
Sincerely yours,
Timothy M. Hilk, President/CEO

On behalf of the employees of Dow's Michigan Operations, I want to thank you for the unbelievable support you and your employees have shown Dow, most recently in the Midland Daily News insert. We always come together in times of challenge and emerged stronger ready to take advantage of future opportunities. We will do it again as we face these current challenges together as a community.
We are proud to have called Midland and this region our home for 112 years and are committed to keeping our community strong and prosperous for many years to come.
My family is also proud to be part of this community. We believe in this community and we are confident that our best days are still ahead of us.

Dear John Markey,
Thank you for your generous donation. Lawn Chair Film Festival had a very successful 09' season and your sponsorship made it happen.
This year, Lawn Chair reached a peak of over 2,500 in attendance for our blockbuster film presentation of IRON MAN. It was another season of great movies and gathering of our community together for a memorable summer night, right in the center of our city.
This year, Lawn Chair Film Festival was honored by The Saginaw Arts and Enrichment Commission as winner of the 2009 All Area Arts Award for best non profit organization.
Like the tag line to our opening night film, IT'S A WONDERFUL LIFE, "they're making memories tonight", and you helped make it happen. Thank you.
Best Regards,

The Auction has become our single day largest fundraising event. This year we were able to raise over 20% of the total cost of our Independence Day Event. Literally thousands of citizens will be able to view this year's celebration. We have received numerous positive comments regarding the show in the past and are convinced with your generous support, this year's show will be the best ever.
On behalf of the thousands of children and young at heart who will enjoy the celebration, thank you for your gracious generosity, the event would not be possible without your support.

We look forward to next year's event, scheduled for June 19, 2009, and the opportunity to work with you again to create brighter futures for children and families.

Dear Mr. Markey,
I appreciate your personal support of the 2008 Bishop's Charity Ball. More than 800 people came together to celebrate Catholic education and this year's Bishop Murphy Award winner, Sister Corinne Weiss, SJ. It was deeply rewarding to experience so many people joined together in faith.
The Catholic Diocese of Saginaw is blessed by many generous benefactors who share a passion for Catholic education. Because of these secured investment funds, parents of today and tomorrow can be assured their children will benefit from the education that can only be received from a Catholic school. Early estimates indicate that more than $300,000 will be distributed into Catholic education.
The 2008 event was a wonderful success. Let me share a few of the highlights with you:
| Raffle Tickets | Over 13,000 tickets were sold raising more than $215,000 for enhancing Catholic education programs. | |
| Charity Ball Sponsorships | Over 100 generous donors provided in-kind and cash @ totaling $220,000. Proceeds from the Ball support Catholic school endowment funds. | |
| Silent Auction | Items sold during the Silent Auction generated $27,000. Half of the Silent Auction proceeds are distributed to schools to enhance or create new programs. | |
| School Supplies | Teachers will receive $2500 worth of materials for their classrooms, thanks to donors and a generous matching gift from School Days in Midland. |
As we celebrate the generous gifts of time, talent and treasure that resulted in raising significant funds for Catholic education, please join me in continuing to pray for administrators, teachers, catechists and the young people of the Catholic Diocese of Saginaw.
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson
Bishop of Saginaw
Dear Mr. Markey:
As the Mackinac Center celebrates its 20th anniversary in 2008, we look upon our past victories with pride. As an idea generator, our educational work and research led to the growth of school choice, positive educational reforms that put more money in the classroom, fewer taxes, less regulatory burdens and healthy and informed debate on the most difficult economic issues facing Michigan. Our more than 30 staff members demonstrate excellence every day, and thousands of contributors from across the United States support our work.
The Center's objective is nothing less than to move public opinion decisively, through strategic research and education, toward greater reliance on entrepreneurship, family and private initiative, and less reliance on government, taxation and distant bureaucracies. A more free and prosperous Michigan is possible, this one-state recession can end, and our economy can thrive when policy embraces competition, creativity and free markets, while abstaining from burdensome regulations and taxes.
Mr. Markey, thank you! Your gift provides us with just one more reason to be optimistic about Michigan's future. With every crisis comes opportunity, and 2008 presents us with wonderful possibilities. Freedom is worth fighting for and with your help we will help turn this state around.
Sincerely,
Justin W. Marshall
Director of Advancement

Dear John Markey:
Thank you for your generosity during our 2007 Holiday Appeal. I thought you might like to know how your donation helped Underground Railroad (URR) provide services to our clients.
With your assistance, we raised $15,800 during the holiday campaign. Those dollars provided 923 nights of safety for victoms of domestic violence, sexual assault and stalking.
Currently, with 11 rooms we can house 42 women and children in the emergency shelter. Many nights we have up to sixteen families in residence. Unfortunately, the economic conditions in our community are creating a greater need for our services. To accommodate more families, we hope to add nine more rooms to the emergency shelter this year.
Together we can work together to bring the promise of safety and hope to every home in our community.
Again, thank you for your support.
Sincerely,

Dear Mr. Markey:
I would like to thank you for your recent contribution in honor of Larry Preston. Through the support of generous donors in our community, the Boys & Girls Club has a positive impact on more than 2000 girls and boys in the Saginaw area. We are providing important programs in the areas of career development, substance abuse prevention, self-esteem enhancement and recreational activities, among others. These activities are crucial to the proper development of the disadvantaged youth in this area.

In recognition of your generosity, you will be listed as a donor in our next annual report, under the name of Absolute! Building Maintenance. If you would prefer that this recognition be listed in some other form, please contact me at your earliest convenience.
The Boys & Girls Club is committed to helping develop our members into productive and happy adults, who give back to their community. Our ability to improve the lives of Saginaw's youth is dependent on the continued support of generous donors such as you. Thank you for your concern.

Dear Friends at Absolute Building
Maintenance,
We want to express our sincere appreciation to you for supporting us with your very generous donation to this year's "Fantastic Frankentrost Community & Congregation Auction & Luncheon."
We surpassed our fundraising goal with the help of over 200 attendees who bid on approximately 400 donated items and services. A great day of good food, fellowship and high spirits was enjoyed by all who attended our 7th annual event. We are also pleased to report that we have received supplemental funding from the Northeast Saginaw County Chapter of Thrivent Financial for Lutherans.
Proceeds from our auction & luncheon were earmarked for the MOST Mission Fund here at Immanuel. Planning for our MOST Mission trip to Puerto Barrios, Guatemala is well underway. We will be conducting an Eyeglass Clinic as well as holding a Bible school for the children.
We ask for your prayer support as we continue our preparations for the upcoming mission trip.
Thank you again for supporting MOST Missions at Immanuel. God's richest blessings to you.
Dear Mr. Markey,

Dear John,
Thank you for your generous support of our recent fundraiser, Dancing With the Stars. Family and Children's Services counts on the generosity of so many people - thank you for being part of our community of supporters.
Your support is now more important than ever. Family and Children's Services has been serving the Midland community since 1925. Throughout our history, we have adapted, grown and continued to meet identified needs. Always we have tried to anticipate changes and proactively meet them.
Today, need is increasing, while the resources to meet those needs are rapidly decreasing. Many State contracts and grants are either being eliminated or severely reduced, forcing us to find other means to subsidize programs formerly supported by government dollars. The funding may disappear, but the clients in need do not. Indeed, in 2007, Family and Children's Services met the needs of 12,225 individuals.
If you ever wondered if one person can make a difference, know that they can, and you just did. Thank you again for your kindness.

On behalf of the East Side Soup Kitchen Board of Directors, Staff and all the people we serve, I write to thank you for your generous donation as a Patron of our "Soup's On For ESSK" fashion show fundraiser at Macy's.
It is hard to believe it is March! Hopefully, the warmth of spring will be here before the end of the month. We could really use a dose of sunshine. The number of people we are serving in our lunchtime meal continues to rise. In the first 3 days of March, we served 152 more meals than the first 3 days of March, 2007.
We are grateful to you for all of your kindness to others. May God bless you always.

Our first festival showed 27 films and documentaries at six downtown venues. We estimate nearly 4,000 people of all ages saw our movies, volunteered, donated money or helped with in-kind services.
All told we raised nearly $35,000 through grants and business and individual donations
-- including a Michigan Council for the Arts and Cultural Affairs minigrant that, we
ere told, was not easy to acquire given the stiff competition. And we ended up in the
lack.
Plans have begun for the 2008 Riverside Saginaw Film Festival, slated for June 25-29 at the same venues. We hope you will join us again.
Thanks again for believing in us during our first year and for, your support.

Dear John,
The Cathedral District Neighborhood Association, Healthy Community Partners, and the
GreenHouse Gathering Place would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your donation.
The 10th Annual Picnic and Talent Show was a huge success, in part, because of the generosity of many businesses in the community. Close to 500 neighbors attended the event throughout the day and with the children's games and talent show, it was a fun-filled afternoon. The children especially enjoyed the coloring contest with the Saginaw County Medical Society, the OCBee mascot handing out dinner certificates, the book giveaway with the Police Department, free bike helmets courtesy ofField Neuroscience Institute, and the kid's games with an abundance of fun prizes including tickets to the Children's Zoo for the lucky winners.
This year, it was co-partnership with the Cathedral District Neighborhood Association, Healthy Com nity Partners, and the GreenHouse Gathering Place to produce this event. The collaboration of the different organizations exemplifies how cooperation helps build community spirit and pride in the neighborhoods.
Your continued support of this major event in the neighborhood is greatly appreciated, as is your commitment to the Cathedral District neighborhood. Your business name will be included in the July 2007 edition of the Cathedral District Connections newsletter as one of the supporters who helped make this event possible. Again, thank you for your help in making this a successful event!

Dear Mr. Markey,
Thank you for your generous donation for the intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) equipment designated for MidMichigan's expanded cardiovascular program. We are very grateful for your response to this appeal that will help usher in an exciting new chapter in health care for Midland-area residents.
We have noted in our records that this gift was given in honor of Absolute Building Maintenance Staff. A letter was sent to notify them of your tribute.
IVUS is the most advanced technology available for viewing the anatomy and composition of a patient's arteries. This high-tech view helps doctors determine the amount of disease present in the arteries. It can also aid in the selection and expansion of balloons and stents used during angioplasty.
The IVUS will be an integral component of our overall cardiovascular program to include open heart surgery and other advanced services. Please accept our gratitude for your willingness to care enough to become involved through your support. Thank you for the valuable role you have played in helping us provide the best for those who come to MidMichigan for heart care.

Dear Mr. Markey,
Thank you for your recent participation in or support of the 1st Annual 'Bee for Literacy' sponsored by Altrusa International of Saginaw, Inc. and The Saginaw News. Dear Ms. Markey,
Thank you so much for agreeing to be a sponsor for our "Hats Off to Libraries" fundraising event on Friday, April 28. We greatly appreciate your sponsoring gift.
Proceeds from "Hats Off to Libraries" will be used to help the Saginaw Public Libraries Foundation provide much needed funding to help support library services at all five branches of the Public Libraries of Saginaw.
